On the following pages are short stories with histories and pictures of unique places to stop along your travels. Sometimes a simple change from going to another fast food joint or gas station to stretch your legs can make getting there fun.  These pages will be added to as I travel and updates will be given on the places already listed.                                                                        On the page, "Picture This", are pictures of sites without stories but directions and information is still given so you can find them too.

Over the 4th of July weekend in 2005 I was thinking about the trips I have taken and places you stop getting there.  You know those on the way places, the ones with the tacky billboards, strange BIG things outside of them and funny shapes too.  Sometimes it’s just the place to get out and walk around, to stretch your legs.  Sometimes you stay a little longer but they have the photo opts.

When in Barstow (CA) a few years back I had to have a picture of “Trigger" outside of the Roy Rogers Museum.  Not that I wanted to go inside, I just wanted a picture of that giant horse.  Then alone Rt. 15 going east towards Vegas is the "Worlds Tallest Thermometer" in Baker, CA.  I had to stop for a Coke.  There right in the middle of the Mojave Desert, somehow that Coke just tasted a little bit better being drunk under that thermometer.

My hope for this site is to start with some of the sights here on the East Coast near home.  After all, some of the best places are oversights we make in our own backyards.  How often do we just ride by and don't take the time to "Stop and Smell the Burgers".

Sometimes I will add a business but this in no way represents an endorsement.  The pictures found on this site are things I have enjoyed seeing along my way. *
